Τhe Tax Freedom Day was presented yesterday by KEFiM and gained extensive coverage by the printed and electronic media. The findings of Tax Freedom Day made the first page in newspapers, were shown in news broadcasts and informative shows, while mentions about the research were presented in the Parliament.
According to KEFiM’s estimations based on ELSTAT’s data and the national budget targets, the average Greek will work this year until July the 18th. This means that we work 198 days out of the 365 days of the year, just to pay taxes and contributions to the state.
The success of Tax Freedom Day by the Greeks underlines its usefulness as a tool for portraying the overly increased taxation on the citizens, households and businesses in the country as well as the need for a radically different policy.
KEFiM would like to thank the citizens, the media and the politicians who have responded once again to this action. We commit ourselves to continuing the effort to report the conditions of the real economic state in Greece, to educate citizens on the basic concepts of economics and to formulate specific proposals for the development and welfare of Greeks through the strengthening of freedom in every aspect of the public.
