The state should at least start with the basics.
    25 Jul 2018

Once again, we have come to the point where we are mourning victims of a natural disaster. Dozens of people have lost their lives in the fires of East and West Attica and many more have been injured, hundreds of homes and cars have been destroyed. Many of us have seen our friends panic and seek information in social media without knowing if their own people are alive and well. Once again, we have lived through all of these, viewers of the same tragedy that is repeated again and again in our country with an unsettling periodicity.

The next days are days of healing and reorganizing. It is important that anyone who can, should help in useful ways: by giving blood, by offering necessities, even by opening our homes to accommodate our fellow citizens who have been left homeless overnight.

Stavros Tsakyrakis: An uncompromising advocate of freedom of speech
    23 Jul 2018

KEFIM honors the memory of Prof. Stavros Tsakyrakis, one of the most militant and influential advocates of freedom of speech in our country in recent decades, remembering his very interesting contribution to our event entitled "Freedom of Expression and Press in Greece" on 5.4.2016.

The Greek liberals now have to close an unbalanced gap. In this effort, the work and the example of Stavros Tsakyrakis's life and morality are for us a source of inspiration and a firm guideline for our action.

Nelson Mandela: The incomplete legacy of a freedom fighter
    19 Jul 2018

Yesterday, July 18th marks a century from the birth of Nelson Mandela in 1918, the most iconic role in the struggle for the abolition of Apartheid’s racist regime in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison, lived to see the justification, as he was elected the first black South African president in 1994, while a year before that he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

As was the case in many of the former colonial countries in Africa and elsewhere, Mandela's struggle for racial equality was associated with socialism, as capitalism was globally associated with colonialism.

    18 Jul 2018

Today, July 18th, is the first day of the year that Greeks will have the opportunity to choose their own way of managing their income. Until yesterday, for 198 of the 365 days of 2018, we worked only to pay taxes and contributions to the state.

KEFiM's study on the calculation of Tax Freedom Day was mentioned in 44 newspapers throughout the country, entered in 4 headlines, presented in 17 television programs, a total of 61 radio reports were made and 909 articles were written in online newspapers and blogs. And not in vain! According to our calculations:

KEFiM: The fact that in today's Greece there are still innovative businesses is for every liberal a source of optimism and responsibility
    17 Jul 2018

The fact that in today's Greece there are still people who are determined to test their creative powers in innovative businesses is for every Greek liberal, a source of optimism but also a responsibility.

Optimism, because even in a hostile environment, creative efforts find a way to manifest themselves, to be put to practice and even some of them to succeed. Responsibility, because everyone who has this need, should be concerned with making the situation better and this begins first and foremost from the battle of ideas.

July 14th. It is an anniversary of great symbolic importance to democracy in the world. On July 14th, 1789, Bastille fell, a notorious prison – a symbol of the tyranny of the royal regime. It was the beginning of the French Revolution, an event that inspired many other revolutions in Europe and the world during the 19th and 20th century.
